Annette Cross | BC-HIS CEO and President of Provincial Hearing
Annette started in the business in 1992 as a secretary, bringing with her over 10 years of management experience. Growing up in a farming family she was familiar with hearing loss in her family and found the industry very interesting. In 1997, she had the opportunity to purchase the business from the owner, Don Allen. Since then Annette has grown the business to four locations in Bridgewater, Truro, Kentville and Halifax, through her passion and dedication to help enhance lives through better hearing. In September 2013, Annette gave her son the Halifax division of Provincial Hearing.
Provincial Hearing is so proud to be one of the oldest locally/family owned clinics in Nova Scotia. Annette contributes the success of the business’s to providing honest, personalized patient care and having all staff stay on top of latest advancements in the hearing industry.
Annette is also a wonderful advocate for the Hearing Instrument profession not just in Nova Scotia, where she has held all executive positions but has been sitting on the National Board CHIPS for over 15 years. Annette was nominated in 2012 to sit on the International Board as Canadian Governor for Hearing Instrument Sciences.
Besides helping provide better hearing her at home, Annette has also volunteers her time around the world with the Starkey Hearing Foundation and has been on nine missions, including Turkey, Egypt, El Salvador, Panama, Jamaica, Kenya and the latest in China. It is truly rewarding to be able to help the less fortunate, and literally experience watching their lives open up through better hearing. It is truly one of the most rewarding experiences she has experienced.
Annette also has a program in her offices called "Everyone Hears," where they fit donated hearing aids at home to the less fortunate and to those that qualify.
Annette lives in Hebbville with her husband, Randall Pernette. She has three grown sons, Darrell, Brandon and Cole, and her six grandchildren, who she adores. She loves traveling, painting, driving her Harley, or just relaxing by the lake. But mostly she enjoys entertaining and spending time with her family and friends.
Annette loves the satisfaction she gets from helping people to enjoy a greater quality of life.
